Kolby started boxing in Brophy's boxing tents when he was 7-8 years old. He totaled over 400 tent fights by the time he was 22. He had about 30 amateur boxing matches with the Sunstate Amateur Boxing League, winning 'about half'. Moved to Townsville in early 2014 to turn pro with Gonzo Hooper. Kolby is the grandson of Don 'Bronco' Johnson - exciting middleweight champ from the 1950-60's.
