Name: Edmond Zerbib
Hometown: Tunisia
Pro Boxer: Record
- Edmond Zerbib was from Tunis, basically a lightweight.
- Had a boxing brother, Edouard Zerbib. Started boxing in 1923 at Club Maccabi in Tunis under the guidance of Joe Guez who became one of the best known Tunisian boxing trainer in history. He was part of a famous "stable" that included Victor (Young) Perez, Benjamin (Kid) Perez, and Billy Smadja.
- North African web sites sometimes mention a Edmond "Bob" Zerbib. Reported by a number of these sites to have been
Tunisian and North African lightweight champion in the mid to late 1920's. They also list Zerbib as one of the founders of Tunisian boxing.
- There is in Boxrec a "Bob Zerbib" who has 3 1928 fights with fly/ bantam Young Perez attributed to him. It seems clear at this time that Edmond and Bob Zerbib are two distinct fighters. The following year Edmond Zerbib fought for the North African Lightweight title. He might have already held the title and was defending--unknown for sure at this time.
- The "Bob Zerbib" against Perez, is not Edmond who on photos looks larger than a fly/bantam. (Observation by Sid Schneck). Though apparently Edmond Zerbib also fought sometimes using the alias "Bob"--source (Harissa.com) This linked record should be considered very incomplete at this point in time.
