According to the 1933-8-29 Winnipeg Free Press, Kid Rippatoe was born 23 years ago and had engaged in 214 bouts. He was now based in Fargo, N.D. and had recently beaten three fighters in as many days: Judy Ruddy in Fargo, Wayne Short in Aberdeen N.D. and Red Haggerty in Moorhead.
Rippatoe was among 75 persons arrested in a July 1937 F.B.I. raid against a white slave ring operating in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota. In December of the same year, he was sentenced to 13 months in prison for violating the Mann Act.
