Fitzpatrick was the promoter at the Riverside Arena in Covington, Kentucky. Initially he was part owner of the club along with Biddy Bishop, before Bishop left the Cincinnati area. Fitzpatrick later became a Democratic Party politician, serving as Mayor of Covington (1944-46), Kenton County Sheriff (1946) and Kentucky State House (1957).
