Biography
His father Venko Pulev was a Bulgarian champion in the heavyweight division. His older Brother Kubrat Pulev was the 2008 European Super Heavyweight champion. Tervel Venkov Pulev has been involved in boxing since 1994 in the club CSKA, later he fought for the boxing club "NSA" and "Academic", "National Sofia" and "Levski". He graduated from the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" in two subjects teacher and trainer. His trainer is Borislav Boiadzhiev. Multiple national champion were won by both in the period of 2004-2010. Pulev suffered no loss within Bulgaria with the exception of that of Artur Beterbiev - world and European champion, who competed in 2005 for BC Botev Plovdiv.
Amateur Career
Tervel Pulev started boxing when he was 11. He was runner-up at Moscow in 2010 the European Amateur Boxing Championships. In the same year he finished second at the European Cup in Kharkiv, Ukraine. He also won the gold medal at the international tournament in Bosnia in 2004, Spain in 2006, Dagestan in 2009, Serbia 2010 and 2011. In 2005, he was named among the 10 best athletes of the "NSA". Participant 3 European and 2 World Championships for men and the world and European championships for juniors.
At the 2012 Olympics he defeated Chinese Wang Xuanxuan and Yamil Peralta which secured a medal before being outpointed by Oleksandr Usyk.
