Obituary

Aalborg: At the age of 80, another one of the big names on the once successful Aalborg boxing scene has struck his last blow.

Wagn Nørgaard, who had huge success in the boxing ring from 1963 to 1973, is no more. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 23, at the Elmely nursing home in Nørresundby - shortly after the family gathered to celebrate his birthday.

Wagn Nørgaard represented Lindholm Boxing Club in his active career and became Jutland champion seven times, just as he was hailed as Danish champion four times. In 1965, Wagn Nørgaard also added a Nordic championship to his CV, and in the same year he was named "Name of the Year" by Aalborg Stiftstidende.

After the end of his career, Wagn Nørgaard had several periods as a coach in, among other things, his childhood club Lindholm Boxing Club, where he also managed to be chairman.

In the civilian labor market, he worked at Nørresundby Swine Slaughterhouse and Skansebadet in Nørresundby, among other places.

Wagn Nørgaard's twin brother, Lass, was also a well-known boxing name in Aalborg. He passed away in 2018.
