Bakhityar Artayev (Born: March 14, 1983) of Kazakhstan won the Olympic Gold Medal at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, in the Welterweight (69 kg) class. Artayev was also awarded the Val Barker Trophy, as the outstanding boxer of the 2004 Olympic Games. He was a bronze medalist as a welterweight at the 2005 World amateur championships in Mianyang, China. He won another bronze medal as a middleweight in the 2007 competition in Chicago, United States.
