In the early 1930s, Bobby Pacho was the Lightweight Champion of the United States Pacific Coast. He is one of those rare boxers in history to have over 200 documented career bouts.
He was a Ring magazine world-ranked lightweight and welterweight contender, reaching a career-high ranking of #3 over a 14-month period between January 1932 and February 1939.
He participated in three challenges for world titles but was unsuccessful in all of them. He lost to Barney Ross twice in world junior welterweight title fights: first on March 27, 1934, at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, California (L-PTS-10), and again on December 10, 1934, at Public Hall in Cleveland, Ohio (L-PTS-12). Additionally, on March 4, 1939, he lost to Henry Armstrong in a world welterweight title fight at Tropical Stadium in Havana, Cuba (L-TKO-4).
