Billy Soose held the World Middleweight Boxing title in 1941, having defeated boxer Ken Overlin for the crown. Shortly afterward he retired from boxing, and joined the United States Navy in 1942. His boxing record included 41 fights, 34 wins, 13 by knockout, 6 loses, and 1 draw. He operated a resort on shores of Lake Wallenpaupack in Pennsylvania's Poconos Mountains from 1946 to 1990.
