Jake LaMotta 159 lbs beat Fritzie Zivic 151 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

  • Zivic was hurt in the 7th and 8th. LaMotta lost the 2nd and 4th rounds on low blows. Zivic damaged his left hand in the first round, but declined to use it as an excuse for his defeat. It was reported as an exciting fight with lots of action. There were no knockdowns but both fighters were shaken up several times. LaMotta's best rounds were the 6th and the 10th.

  • Zivic fractured the 3rd metacarpal of his left hand in the 1st round of his bout with LaMotta. This side-lined Zivic for two months.
  • Zivic had to cancel his proposed bout with Jackie Wilson scheduled for Feb. 7th in Pittsburgh due to the injury.
  • Despite Zivic claiming his career was over, he actually went on to fight for five more years and 52 more bouts.
  • Zivic was scheduled to report to his draft board for his final physical exam the following Monday.
