Jimmy DeForest was an early 20th century trainer of Stanley Ketchel and Jack Dempsey.
He had been a circus performer, then got into amateur boxing. He later became matchmaker at the Polo Grounds. He also promoted the Harry Greb vs. Mickey Walker bout.
DeForest had an extensive collection of boxing memorabilia, much of which was lost in a house fire.
