"Eddie Pace staggered Jose stable repeatedly and scored a stunning upset decision in an action-packed 10 round fight Tuesday night at Honolulu International Center. Stable, the Cuban from New York, was out on his feet at the end and bleeding from a gash over the right eye. But Pace, of Los Angeles, could not knock Stable off his feet and the WBA's 3rd ranked welterweight managed to survive. Stable rallied in the later rounds but Pace caught him again with a tremendous right in the 10th, and Stable wobbled from rope to rope but fought back gamely to the final bell." -Associated Press
