Rafael Limon 128 lbs beat Rolando Navarrete 130 lbs by TKO at 3:08 in round 12 of 15

  • Navarrete down late in the 12th from a ferocious barrage of Limon punches, body and head, while trapped along the ropes. Fails to beat count.

"Rafael 'Bazooka' Limon of Mexico, trailing on all three judges' scorecards, landed 13 unanswered punches to knock out Rolando Navarrete at 3:10 of the 12th round Saturday and regain his WBC junior lightweight championship. Limon started his barrage in the waning seconds of the 12th round. A left by the southpaw from Mexico City backed Navarrete, who now lives in Honolulu, into a neutral corner. Two right-left combinations kept Navarrete penned in and from there Limon landed four rights and three lefts to the head. The last left sent Navarrete to the canvas as the bell rung and referee Joey Curtis then counted him out." -Associated Press

  • Under Nevada rules, the bell cannot save a fighter except in the final round.
