  • Sonsona wins the rematch, dropping Vazquez Jr. with a left hook body shot to the liver in round one, and was ahead the entire bout after that.
  • Sonsona lost a point for holding in the sixth round, but both fighters were equally guilty of holding through the hard fought inside contest.
  • Sonsona was staggered off the ropes from an accidental head butt from Vazquez which landed on Sonsona's nose.
  • Both fighters wrestled to the canvas in round ten, with referee Harvey Dock getting tagged by a straight left near the final bell.
  • Despite the split decision, the bout was not close. Noted judge Julie Lederman, known for scoring on punches landed, went for Sonsona.
  • The TV commentators stated Vazquez went into this bout with no trainer. During the bout, Vazquez had long stretches with no offense.
