	~~Cuba~~'s "Diario de La Marina" stated on several ocassions that Abdl el Kebir was from Spanish Morocco. His interviews on Cuban press were done in Spanish and the newspapers did not make any references as to the fighter having an American accent.

	~~Spain~~'~~s newspapers -La Vanguardia and Mundo Deportivo- referred to him also as being a black Moroccan, interviewed him often and reported of his fights in Egypt.~~
