"The featured 10 round non-title main event at the Cow Palace ended in a zero for both fighters as a severe cut caused by an accidental head-butt by Ray Lunny to the left eye of world jr. lightweight champion Ben Villaflor terminated the bout in a draw just before the start of the 7th round. Lunny took the 1st round over the cautious Villaflor but in the 2nd the champ unloaded a blockbuster left on the chin of Lunny which put him down on the seat of his pants. The cut occurred midway through the 6th when both boxers were mixing it up inside. They stepped away and referee Elmer Costa immediately ushered Villaflor to the apron where commission doctor Don Lastretto examined the cut. He said that it was okay to continue but it was obvious Villaflor was blinded by the blood gushing into his eye. When the round ended, both Costa and Villaflor's handlers agreed that the bout should be stopped. So it went into the books as a six round technical draw." -San Mateo Times
