: There was little doubt last night that Sanstol had the edge in almost every round but owing to the aggressiveness of the little Gothamite, Pete had to go at top speed all the way to keep out in front. Sanstol's superior boxing skill enabled him to block many of Brostoff's body blows and he was able to duck out of harm's way from wicked rights and lefts to the head. The champ [Sanstol had won the World Bantamweight Title the week before in Montreal] used an effective straight left which he kept poking into Benny's face and had the New Yorker bleeding from the nose and mouth in the seventh round. Brostoff had opened an old cut under Pete's right eye early in the fight.

: Sanstol entered the ring at 118 while Brostoff scaled 122. The first round was fairly even with both boys missing wildly. Sanstol heaved himself to the floor in this round, when in close he swung and missed and Benny somersaulted over him. The second was Brostoff's by a good margin when he scored often with rights and lefts to Sanstol's head. Pete again went to the canvas in the second, half pushed and half slipping.
