*Bucceroni bled from a gashed right brow and a bleeding nose. Murphy suffered a cut on his left brow and under his chin.
*According to the UP article, Goldstein nearly stopped the bout in the 4th round but the bell rang before he could intervene.
*Jack Cuddy of the UP wrote that efforts to match Harry 'Kid' Matthews with Joey Maxim for the title were bogging down and that Murphy's win might move him to the forefront of a title challenge. This came to pass as Maxim and Murphy met the following August for the title.
