Andr�s Ortiz Flores is son of the former Yucat�n state�s flyweight champion in the 80�s Ram�n "Chopa" Ortiz.

Born in Celestun beach world famous for it�s flamingos, Ortiz has always been a very promissing fighter since his amateur age.

After winning the yucatecan and national amateur bantamweight championship, "Chopita" Ortiz, as he�s well known was contacted in M�rida, Yucat�n in june 2000 by renowned mexican manager Ignacio Berinsta�n, who, according press publications offered about 1000 dollars to his parents to take the boy with him to M�xico City.

Berinst�in was by then in M�rida because his WBC�s featherweight world champion "Guty" Espadas defended in an horrible performance his belt against thai Wethya Sangkmuangklang.

They ("Chopita�s) parents) accepted and so, the fate of his son was sealed.With Brinst�in, "Chopita" Ortiz won the golden gloves tournament in M�xico City and after that took his professional debut and has held so far three fights keeping himself unbeaten.

On tuesday september 11th 2001, Ortiz Flores won his first professional belt by knocking down in three rounds his gym partner Julio C�sar castrej�n whom he floored twice before referee stope the bout.

His future looks more than great but it will only depend in his decision and desire to be someone in the world of boxing since he has capability to be a star.
