But the Negro schoolboy still had freedom enough in his arms to ward off blows. Frisco tossed him into the practice ring against the best boxers available and told them to shoot the works. 'These days,' Frisco grins, 'Buford is a hard boy to hit.' The record bears him out. Buford posted 12 knockout victories in his 15 fights and was shaded only once."
