"Champion Carlos Palomino used a vicious body attack to weaken Japanese challenger Ryu Sorimachi and then knocked him out with a left hook to the chin at 2:03 of the 7th round of their scheduled 15 round WBC welterweight title fight Saturday. The champion dug into Sorimachi's ribs with a series of punishing blows in the 6th round and Sorimachi was barely able to make it back across the ring to his corner. He spat blood from his mouth and winced as the bell rang for the 7th. Palomino set up Sorimachi by first digging a right hand to the body. He then landed one hook on the side of Sorimachi's head and followed with the left that landed flush on his opponent's chin." -United Press International
