&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;New page&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;University of Wisconsin (USA) amateur boxer who died in the 1960 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) tournament at the Fieldhouse venue. His death resulted in the faculty immediately closing down the school&amp;#039;s boxing program after a &amp;quot;hurried-up meeting.&amp;quot; (Boxing had been as popular as basketball at the school. When the University opened a new sports arena on campus in 1998, there was a special ceremony during half-time of a basketball game at the old Fieldhouse saluting the old college boxers and their coach, [[John J. Walsh]].) Soon after, the NCAA abolished boxing from its sanctioned collegiate sports.&lt;br /&gt;
