	Chief Specialist Casey Costello was discharged from the US Navy August 1945 where he had been stationed in Key West and served as a physical instructor and boxing teacher. While in boot camp Costello injured his back and required three operations. Later he fell and broke his glasses and injured his eye when pieces of glass were imbedded over his left eye which required multiple surgeries (Rome Daily Sentinel August 24, 1945).
