The fans watched as Cokes tried for 10 rounds to battle Morales - Mexico's top-ranking welter - using only a highly polished left jab. But a left jab, no matter how effective, proved not enough against a fighter of Morales' bent as both judges and the referee gave the nod to the Mexican scrapper. Cokes showed signs of living up to his billing in the 7th when he caught the smooth-moving Mexican with a series of solid shots with both hands.
