			Opening night at Harlingen Garden was a knockout inside the ring and out.

A capacity crowd witnessed five quick fights at the premier of the "Lite Wednesday Night Fights."

			Darrin "School Boy" Van Horn floored "Wicked" Willie Ball for the third and final time at the 1:45 mark of the second round in the main event. The super middleweight fight was scheduled for 10 rounds but Van Horn made quick work of the out-of-shape Ball.

			"I saw (Ball) fight Tony Thornton and he went a solid 10 rounds," Van Horn said. "He looked out of shape. When a guy first arrives, you look at his body. His stomach wasn't in shape."

			After a slow first round, Van Horn (57-3, 38 KOs) landed a straight left, knocking his opponent to the floor. Ball's mouthpiece shot from his lips and followed the St. Louis native to the canvas. Ball (28-9, 12 KOs) stood up for an eight count.

			Ball didn't stay in the upright position for long. Van Horn dropped Ball with another left for the second standing eight count. Van Horn finished Ball with a left, right combination for the TKO on the mandatory three-knockout rule.

			"After (Ball) got hurt once or twice, he realized he was in for a long fight," Van Horn said. "I was hoping to get in a few more rounds."

			Van Horn, of Lexington, Ky., said he will fight England's Nigel Benn for the World Boxing Council super middleweight title Sept. 3 in London.
