In the third bout of the inaugural seven bout card at BB King Blues Club and Grill on Times Square in New York City, featherweights Dat Nguyen and Juan Cruz offered the best bout of the evening, an evenly fought six rounder. Nguyen, a Vietnamese fighter now hailing from Vero Beach, Florida, fought a seesaw war with Cruz, from Caguas, Puerto Rico. It appeared that both fighters were in excellent physical condition and had trained seriously for the bout, and the result was a world class technical battle, with action that went back and forth. It was a close battle royale, with Nguyen aggressively coming forward with combinations, while Cruz landed counter combinations keeping Nguyen confused and off balance the entire bout. The first five rounds appeared even, and in the sixth, Cruz landed some heavy power shots but it was still a close round. The result was a majority decision for Nguyen, though the bout appeared even.<br />
