	"32 year old Emile Griffith showed age was no barrier as he scored a unanimous 10 round decision over 25 year old Armando Muniz. Muniz was hopelessly outclassed by the veteran Griffith. Griffith's rapid-fire jabs, which were his tempo of the fight, commenced in the 2nd round when he peppered Muniz constantly both to the head and body. Muniz stayed on fairly even terms with Griffith in the 3rd and 4th heats, but Emile took command in the 5th when he jabbed Muniz's left eye and started a swelling beneath the orb. The 6th round was a toe-to-toe battle, but Griffith schooled the Latin in the fine art of boxing through the following three heats. Knowing he needed a knockout in the final round, Muniz left his stool firing all his artillery. 			* "Mando was in the best shape of his life and there are no excuses. But when Griffith showed his complete disdain for the contract, it upset us all. We insisted at the weigh-in that Griffith get down to the weight agreed upon. He said he couldn't get any lower. The State Athletic Commission said all it could do was fine Griffith and his manager $100 apiece. We could have refused to fight, but so many tickets had been sold that we felt it unfair to the fans to back out. We would never have agreed to 154 lbs.
