"Emile Griffith and the big crowd at the Palais Des Sports did not agree with the unanimous decision Tony Mundine won Monday night over the 35 year old former champion in a 12 round bout. Mundine moved more easily, used an effective left jab and uppercut and kept Griffith far away in the first five rounds with more skill and patience than he was thought to have. Griffith began getting around Mundine's reach advantage in the 6th round and kept a clear advantage into the 9th, but Mundine was able to dominate thereafter. Mundine, the Australian, had the advantage of 12 fewer years, 2 1/2 inches in height and more than two pounds over Griffith." -Associated Press
