"Ernie Schaaf, Boston, won an easy 10 round decision over Tony Galento of Orange, N.J., Monday night at Dreamland Park. Schaaf had an easy time with his opponent, but was unable to knock out the rugged iceman. Schaaf administered a terrific battering to Galento in the 5th round, opening cuts on his cheek, mouth and left eyebrow. Galento's chief weapon was a hard right to the head, which jarred Schaaf the few times it landed. Schaaf, who was superior at infighting, tied up Galento in the clinches and battered at his body. There were no knockdowns." -United Press
