Terrell rocked Pires with two solid rights to the jaw near the end of the 3rd round but was unable to follow through. Pires, 215, had his two best rounds in the 6th and 7th when he connected late in each stanza with looping rights and lefts. Terrell again staggered his opponent with a left-right combo late in the 9th in which Pires started bleeding badly from a cut inside the mouth.
