[[Pete Toro]] edged out a decision over Hernandez at the Intercity Golden Gloves ~~Tournament in New York~~ in 1960.		*Hernandez was the welterweight champion at the 1960 Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions, he won the final vs. [[Mark Burds]] of Denver, CO. He had previously, in 1959, represented New York at the Intercity Golden Gloves Tournament at welterweight with the verdict being awarded [[Ottie Adkins]]. [[Pete Toro]] representing Chicago edged out a decision over Hernandez for the Intercity Golden Gloves' championship at welterweight in 1960.
