In the 6th round, a body shot, which Montgomery felt was low, appeared to hurt Montgomery. The bout slowed after that, with Nettlow having the advantage. In the 8th round, Montgomery's heavy body attack turned the fight in his favor again. In the 9th round, Montgomery hurt Nettlow with a series of rights to the jaw, and attempted to finish him along the ropes to no avail. Nettlow was battered again for the first two minutes of the 10th round.
