Weekly faded over the last five rounds, and was dropped with a left hook to the head in the 13th round for no-count. Weekly was hanging on at the end of the bout, as Breese closed strong. Breese was visibly upset with the decision, as he confronted the referee saying "Say Dolan how much do you get for decisions like that?". Dolan responded by slapping him in the face and saying "You are lucky I didn't throw you out of the ring for elbowing and thumbing." The police broke the two men up. Judge Galway scored the bout a draw.
