New page

[[File:Perez_left_hook.jpg]]

In the opening bout, lightweight Mike Perez (7-0-1, 3 KOs), of Newark, N.J., manhandled brawler Sergi Ganjelashvili (4-5-1), of Key West, Fla., to win a near-shutout decision.

Too game for his own good, the defense-derived Ganjelashvili tried to batter his way in for six rounds, but Perez made him pay repeatedly with lead lefts and rights.

Avoiding Ganjelashvili’s battering ram head and, somehow, able to tune out the deafening, piercing screams of his significant other (who was escorted out after four rounds), Perez calmly took his opponent apart. Ganjelashvili was bruised and bleeding in the second; cut over both eyes by the fourth and, in the final round, nearly floored by head-spinning shots.

All three judges had it for Perez, 60-54 twice and 59-55.[http://www.fightnewsextra.com/cc/2010stories/04-hardrock.htm]
