Beaton, built like a pint sized version of [[Thomas Hearns]], came forward and attempted to confuse Green by switching back and forth from the orthodox to the southpaw stance, throwing a lot of rights with dangerous intent. Neither fighter cut off the ring. Green moved side to side, not offering a consistent target. Beaton threw many punches, but was inaccurate and wild, missing with most of them.
