Paul Cardoza, 175, New Bedford, had to come from way behind to score a knockout over previously undefeated Roosevelt Brown, 172, Boston, in the eighth round. Cardoza was cut over the left eye in the fifth round and was nearly beaten into submission by the eighth round. Cardoza fired a solid left hook as Brown came in. Realizing that he had hurt his man Paul moved in and scored a knockdown. Brown arose and a solid right dropped him again.
