Initially, this fight was ruled a 4th round TKO win for Denis Madriz as referee Edward Collantes ruled that the cut that ended the fight was caused by a punch and not a headbutt.

Video footage provided by Telefutura of this non-televised bout confirmed that it happened due to a headbutt, and after diligent reporting by Queensberry-Rules.com and a follow-up by them to the Calif. State Athletic Commission, a hearing was set to discuss the possiblity of the bout being overturned.
