Araujo floored Gonsalves with a left hook right before the bell to end the 1st round. Gonsalves rose unsteady, and was battered in the 2nd round. Gonsalves appeared to be briefly floored, though the referee did not rule a knockdown. Gonsalves was cut on his left eye, and had a bloodied nose, by the time the 2nd round ended. Araujo tired after this, and Gonsalves was able to fight back over the middle rounds. In the 8th round, Gonsalves closed one of Aruajo's eyes, allowing him to close strongly over the last three rounds, to secure the draw.

Odds: Araujo 10-to-4 favorite
