According to the ''Los Angeles Times'' this was a torrid bout. The first three rounds were very even, with Sangor taking the 1st, Sorio the 2nd, and Sangor the 3rd. Sorio began to take heavy punishment in the 4th round, as his face began to swell. In the 6th round, with one eye closing, Sorio was dropped by a right uppercut for a nine-count. After he rose, Sorio appeared on the verge of a stoppage, with the ring doctor on the ring step, when he landed a right hook squarely on the chin of Sangor which sent him down. Sangor was up quickly, but was hurt enough to cautiously stay out the remainder of the round. Sorio tore after him to start the 7th, but Sangor, recovered, landed a right hook to Sorio's jaw that floored him for the ten count.
