Massey knocked Cool down with a left hook to the chin in the 2nd round, for a seven-count. Cool went down near the end of the round again from weariness, but rose without a count. After dropping the first two rounds on all the official scorecards, Cool began to rally, only losing the 5th round on all cards to Massey, with the 10th even on all cards. Cool used his right effectively the rest of the way, almost exclusively to counter-punch Massey who left himself open to attack with the persistent use of his left hand.
