The Lake County coroner&#039;s office said Thomas was pronounced dead in Methodist South Lake Hospital in Merrillville at 11:40 P.M. He was 26 years old. <br /> <br /> Thomas was hospitalized after his lightweight bout with Chris Calvin, 26, of Nashville. Stanley Berg, the referee, stopped the bout in the seventh round and Thomas collapsed later in his dressing room at the Holiday Star Theater here. <br /> <br /> Thomas underwent brain surgery to remove a blood clot and his manager, Joe Smelley, charged that Berg had endangered Thomas&#039;s life by not stopping the fight earlier.
