Bath used his advantage in reach to outbox Musto over the first five rounds. Musto had fought the early bout trying to work inside, to pound Bath's body. Musto's body attack began to show it's effects in the 6th round, as he dropped Bath for a nine-count. In the 7th round, Musto's body attack put Bath down for the ten count. Bath had risen just after the count, and claimed to have misheard the count.
