Thomas draped Carter over the ropes three times in the 3rd. Before the bell to end the 3rd, Carter was knocked down, he got up and staggered back to his corner. Carter's jaw is re-broken during this bout, putting him out of commission for some time. (Newspapers published the following May reported that his jaw had healed by then.) This is Carter's first bout since the Portland Boxing Commission lifted his "indefinite" suspension. Carter had been suspended when he pulled out of a June 1929 match with Joe Marcus. This was one of several last-minute pullouts that Carter had done in Portland.</div>Matt
