New page

<fight>342644</fight>
After losing the first round, McDuff dropped Bettina with a right hand to the jaw, for a nine-count. Bettina rallied though, and dropped McDuff a minute later with a left to the chin. Over the remainder of the bout, Bettina neutralized McDuff's only threat, his right hand, and landed heavily to head and body, as he won clearly the rest of the way.

Former heavyweight champion [[Gene Tunney]] who was in attendance, refereed on a whim, after a bad decision from the semi-final referee, and officiated in the "English custom" and let the fighters work out of clinches as long as their hands were free.
