This is Farmer's professional debut, according to the March 8, 1913 ''Tacoma Daily News'', and the July 4, 1929 ''Tacoma News Tribune''. (That former paper reported this fight occurred July 4, 1910, and that Farmer had taken "more than a year" off before having his second fight Sept. 1912, suggesting that the July 4, 1911 date may be accurate.) For this fight only, Farmer was seconded and managed by [[Melvin Mucklestone]], the University of Washington's football star at this time.
