Moreno shook Cotero in the first two rounds. Cotero took control of the bout in the 3rd round with his jab, and landed left-right combos in the 4th that Moreno bleeding from his nose and mouth. Moreno opened a bad cut over Cotero's right eye in the 5th round, with two left hooks; Cotero rallied, however, to gain a slight edge in the round. Cotero stunned Moreno with a left-right in the 6th round, only to be shook by a left hook from Moreno. His face coverd in blood, Cotero drove Moreno to the ropes with a hard right hand as the 6th round ended. In the 7th round, about a minute after the bout was stopped to take a look at the bad cut over his right eye, Cotero drove Moreno to the ropes, where he finished him with a right hand to the jaw.

Odds: Moreno 10-to-7 favorite.
