This was a fast fight, though few damaging blows were landed early in the bout. Both men began to tired badly, in the last few rounds. In the 6th round, Marullo landed several good right hands, that had Holland groggy. One of these right hands put Holland down on his back, where he took a nine-count laying on his back. Holland rose, and continued fighting back, as he finished the bout. Holland collapsed after the bout and died at 7:30 the following morning at Charity Hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage. This was his fourth professional bout. He had been an outstanding athlete at Tulane University.
