New page

<fight>393671</fight>
After a feeling-out opening minute, Rankins lashed out with a left hand to the jaw along the ropes that dropped Gainer on his back, for a nine-count. Gainer attempted to escape, but was floored again by another left hand, for a one-count. Gainer evaded Rankins for the rest of the first round, and the two then boxed an even 2nd round. Early in the 3rd round, a left to to the stomach dropped Rankins, who took a nine-count. Rankins was then dropped for another nine-count by another left hand, slightly higher than the previous knockdown blow. Upon rising, Gainer attacked him with both hands, and put him down for a third nine-count. Rankins made a desperate lunge at Gainer upon rising, and Gainer side-stepped and landed a finishing left hand to the jaw.
