Craven attacked Raymond at the opening bell, and dropped Raymond with a right hand to the jaw. Raymond was up without a count, but Craven swarmed all over him and drove him to the ropes. Craven continued attacking Raymond, who appeared to be out on his feet, and became draped over the ropes. The referee pulled Craven away when he saw Raymond's right hand that was caught on the ropes appeared to be the only thing holding him up. As he untangle Raymond, he collapsed to the canvas, and was counted out.

Raymond was reported to be the favorite in this bout.
