Fusari, 141 1/2, Irvington won in easy fashion over Freddie Archer, 144, Newark, dropping him three times for counts of nine in the first round, and again dropping him for nine in the sixth. Archer nearly collapsed as he headed for his corner. Fusari carried the fight to his more experienced, but thoroughly game rival from the start. The first knockdown came midway in the opening round when Fusari slammed over a hard right to the jaw to sink Archer for a nine count. A left and right to the chin followed by another right smashed the Newarker to the canvas a second time, with the third knockdown coming shortly before the bell.
